Testimonials: Cody 2007

My name is Cody Young. I’m from New Mexico. It was a long road up to where I am now. Twenty-six painful years. But it well worth it. I always knew there was a God, but I never really knew Jesus. I had that big empty spot I was always trying to fill.  Women, alcohol, drugs, prison three times, you name it. I can’t really explain it because I don’t think I found Him, I think He found me. Or rather, He knew exactly where I was. In His mercy and grace He saved Me from myself. (Ephesians 2:8-10) Praise be to Jesus for ever and ever!!!
I’m in the process of a radical transformation. I’m a totally different person. (Romans 8:23) Jesus is freeing me of a lot deceit and burdens. My very thinking is changing. I recently got to visit my family. For the first time in at least ten years, probably my life, I connected with them. It was priceless. He has given me hope and life where there was only pain and death. I’ve been a lot of things in my life but I’ve never been more successful than being broke and homeless at the Columbus Rescue Mission!! Praise the LORD!!! (Psalm 48:1)
I wrote a little poem shortly after getting saved and is kind of my life story in a nutshell:
Father, wipe away these tears that fall;(Revelation 21:4)

I’ve turned my back to you since I could crawl.

So afraid of getting hurt, I never let myself feel;

But all along I told myself, I was real.

Now I read the open book of my life;

And the pain cuts deep, like a double-edged knife.

All the anger buried in the darkness inside;

Is slowly being brought to the light.

Though I’m not afraid, it takes all my might;

To stop these tears that fall freely from my eyes.

But now I know where my heart truly lies;

It’s with you Father, in the heavenly skies!!

Well, thank you for letting me share with you. May God bless you. I would be more than happy to share more or serve you in any Godly way.  Cody Young
