Columbus Rescue Mission

Welcome to the Columbus Rescue Mission!

We are a group of Christians who believe God wants us to welcome strangers and serve those in need. All our sevices are offered FREE in the name of Jesus Christ.

Webster's dictionary defines a Mother as a female parent; a woman who has borne a child; to cherish or protect.  Mothers are in every culture and race; they differ in age, size and personality.  Needless to say, not every mother is nurturing and responsible and we see many who have been victims of abuse.

Here at the Columbus Rescue Mission, we are committed to the success of the mothers that come through our door.  We desire to see them set free to be all GOD created them to be, not what our society or others say they should be.  Most of all, we want them to hear the Gospel of our Lord Jesus.  Because we don’t receive any government money, we are free to speak of Jesus and to use God’s word.

I think of one mother, Joyce, who came to the mission to stay as she searched for a job.  Her addiction had created immense pain in her life and in the lives of her family.  After morning devotions, and a talk with Eileen, our Director of Women’s Ministry, she began her relationship with God and dedicated her life to Jesus.   She began to experience peace and a freedom from the drugs that she had never known.  She began to renew her relationship with her children.  They began to discover they had a new mom.  From my perspective, frowns became smiles and an incredible joy was on her face; the beauty of a woman that trusts in Jesus and His Word.

We have two other moms with us as I write this letter.  Judy, while her mother is taking care of her first child, is trying to get on her feet and is expecting another baby.  It appears to be an uphill fight, but with God on her side, we have hope.  Our other mom, Bobbie, is separated from her 4 children.  But she found something here she wasn’t expecting, Jesus.  It has been a joy to watch mature Christian women from Columbus come alongside of Bobbie to nurture this baby believer.

In God’s word it say’s, “Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the Word of God will not be dishonored. Titus 2:3-5

In celebration of MOTHER'S DAY, please join us by making a financial investment in this ministry toward mothers and their children here at the Columbus Rescue Mission.  Praise God for Mom’s,   Chaplain Ted

P.S.      Here’s an idea, send a card of appreciation to your Mom and a financial gift in her honor to the Columbus Rescue Mission. All gifts that we receive in April apply to the Feinstein Challenge.

You are invited to participate in an exciting fundraiser for the Columbus Rescue Mission and we are asking for your help. Most of all we need your prayers and support of the Mission's efforts and specifically this golf tournament fundraiser. This will be the second annual event which will be held Friday afternoon, June 8th, 2007 at the Elks Country Club. Details of the tournament are attached.

Sponsorship: In addition to your prayers, we would like your church to be a full hole sponsor for $500 or combine your church with another church or business as a half hole sponsor for $250 each.

Church Special: We are offering a special deal for churches. For $500 we will list your church as a half-hole sponsor and enter one 4-person team from your church!!

Golf Team Entry: A new twist this year is the "Church Challenge" where we will award a special traveling trophy for the winning team made up of members from the same church. We would like you to solicit from your congregation one or more golf teams to compete in the 4-person golf scramble. In addition to sponsoring a hole, some churches are helping to fund the tournament entry fee of $75 per player.

We would like to visit with your church leadership group at your convenience by May 1st, to explain this fundraising activity and to answer any questions you may have about it or the Columbus Rescue Mission in general. We'd like to recognize your church as being a sponsor in both of our full page ads in the Columbus Telegram. We need your commitment by May 15, 2007 in order to get into the first full page ad.

Please help us with this worthwhile ministry. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own swing; in all your ways acknowledge him, and He shall direct your drives. Proverbs 3:5-6 (Chaplain Ted's paraphrase)
