Food Pantry
The Columbus Rescue Mission is blessed with a spacious food pantry area where we store a myriad of canned and dried goods. Although the mission staff and disciples plan numerous meals from the contents of our pantry, we also provide numerous “food baskets” to those families from outside the mission who are in desperate need. The only criteria for receiving a food basket are that the person or persons receiving the gift must attend evening chapel at 7:30 PM. Following chapel, the recipients are then allowed to depart with the food, usually adequate for ten to fourteen days.
They are welcome to come as many times as necessary, as long as they attend chapel. We also provide food baskets to our own guests who have successfully completed their assigned tasks with us and are in the process of moving to their own quarters. On a few occasions, we have literally emptied the pantry to meet pressing needs elsewhere, such as the Katrina disaster. However, our God who is always faithful has quickly replenished the empty shelves. Quite frankly, our goal is to give it all away for the Lord and to the needy.
What a joy it is to observe the Lord working through the Columbus Rescue Mission food pantry.
