See What’s Happening at the Mission
Ted Pearson
Executive Director
Columbus and Living Water Rescue Mission
My Friends in Rescue,
God has faithfully used you to resolve the cash flow problem that we communicated to you. September is close, but the ink is black.
As the time draws near, September 15th, for me to step away as the Director of the Columbus & Living Water Rescue Mission, it has given me cause to reflect on all that God has done over the past 17 years here. There have been many tears shed over fallen lives, tears for His miracle of salvation, with many more tears of joy as the Lord would encourage me with a call or visit from you who are walking in God’s redemptive plan. I have pondered what I might have done different and pray for Nathan to have God’s wisdom as he takes on the responsibility of Executive Director.  Chaplain Hawk feels the same way.
We are going to have two Open Houses if you want to stop and see Hawk or myself. They will be August 25th in York from 1:00-4:00 pm at the Living Water Rescue Mission and August 26th in Columbus from 1:00-4:00 at First Baptist Church, 3210 30th St, Columbus, NE. I would be most interested in your meeting and introducing yourself to Nathan. He needs your prayer and support in directing God’s ministry of Rescue.
I want you to know how much each one of you as friends, donors, guests, and staff mean to me. I am truly a blessed man to have been able to serve you, and as I move on to a new position as Visitation Pastor at the Stromsburg Evangelical Free Church, I go there with fond memories of all of you.
Chaplain Ted
I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:3-6

Scott is one of our Disciples in the New Life Program at the Columbus Rescue Mission! He has been such a wonderful blessing. We have so enjoyed watching God work on the life of this gentleman.
Jamison is the newest Disciple in our New Life Program here at the Columbus Rescue Mission. Jamison craves to learn the Word of God and get closer to Him day by day. He is a blessing.
Pots and Pans, On Our Hands
We have an assortment of pots, pans, casserole dishes, tupperware, etc. from people who have delivered meals to the mission. If you think you left one here and might want to pick it up please come on by. If you want to donate it to the mission we will make sure that it goes to GREAT use.
Special Invitation to Pray
We hold monthly prayer meetings where we lift up the guests, staff, and other concerns of the Mission. It is a huge blessing to be present with the Lord and praying for others. We would like to invite you to join us. We meet in Columbus the last Wednesday morning of each month at 10:00 am in Chaplain Ted’s office in the Mission. We meet in York the 2nd Thursday of every month at 7:00 PM at the Living Water Rescue Mission. If you have any questions please call Pam in Columbus 402-563-1096 or Diane in York 402-362-6171.
The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. Psalm 145:18

Would You Please Consider Volunteering at the Columbus and Living Water Rescue Mission?
“Whosoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give….” 2 Corinthians 9:6-7a
With busy lives it can be hard to find time to volunteer, however the benefits of volunteering can be enormous to you, your family, and the Rescue Missions
in Columbus & York. We are currently in need of evening chapel leaders – ½ hour a month or weekly blesses us greatly. We also have some nights available on our calendar to bring in an evening meal. On occasion we need people to drive guests to an appointment or job interview. We can always use painters and fixer-uppers. Finally, there is a need for translators for our Spanish speaking guests.
If you would like to be blessed and also be a blessing, please call Pam in Columbus 402-563-1096 or LaVerna in York 402-362-0127.
We Need a Freezer!
Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow!!!
The Columbus & Living Water Rescue Mission continues to be blessed with an abundance of donations from our donors. Thank you all for bringing in food, clothing, household items, hygiene items, cleaning products, furniture… the list goes on and on. Because of your generous hearts, we are able to help not only the guests of the mission but also people in the community who come for help. Last week a big chest freezer quit working at the Columbus Rescue Mission. With fall right around the corner and more meat coming – as in turkey’s and ham’s – we need a freezer. If you have one to donate (new or gently used & working) please call 402-563-1096, and bring it in. As you bless us, we in turn can bless others!!
A Note From The Editor – Happy Trails
“Some trails are happy ones,
Others are blue.
It’s the way you ride the trail that counts,
Here’s a happy one for you.
Happy trails to you,
Until we meet again.
Happy trails to you,
Keep smiling until then.
Who cares about the clouds when we’re together?
Just sing a song, and bring the sunny weather.
Happy trails to you,
Until we meet again.”
These words by Dale Evans seem appropriate as we spend our final days at the mission with Chaplain Ted and Chaplain Hawk. These two amazing men have meant so much to so many people. Often, they don’t even realize just how much they have touched the lives of their staff members, business owners, overnight guests, disciples, and friends in the community. Watching them do God’s work day in and day out has been a true blessing and we will miss them immensely as they ride down their new trails to continue doing the Lord’s work in different forms of ministry. Ted and Hawk, thank you so very much for your years of service to the field of rescue ministry. We all love you and will miss you very much!
